Our Bedroom
Our home is small in relation to what most Americans find themselves living in, a mere 1200 square feet. But for us is the perfect size, at times we felt it even to be bigger than we needed.
My mother in law moved in with us in 2020. We gave her this bedroom that also had a sitting room off of it, but she found it to be too cold as it faces North. So, we switched bedrooms with her and now have the room that also has a nice sitting room...which gives us more space.
We actually can fit a king size bed in here, despite the small size of the room. I have an ottoman that we had for years in our Livingroom. I recovered it in this pretty cotton pattern.
I used mostly grey and navy in here. My Tabaco basket that I brought back from North Carolina looks great in this space. Cost me $17!
I purchased new curtains and a rug for in here, just to freshen things up.
I keep art and furniture to a minimum, to keep the space clutter free. This Art Guild sign is hand painted. I got it from a woman that owned an antique store. I had done some work for her and admired it in her shop. It's painted on both sides and interestingly is painted over an existing sign.
This photograph that hangs on this wall was taken by my husband many years ago. It's a picture of a close up of a tree, in the bark is what looks like a heart! The funny thing is, my husband just thought the bark of the tree was neat and didn't see the "heart" until after the picture was developed!
I painted our bedroom with left over paint I had used in other rooms of our house. The room needs to be light and bright because it faces North and has only one window.
I bought the three drawer dresser off of Craigslist for $80, one night stand at an antique store for $15 and the other night stand I got from a friend for free!
You don't have to have a big space or a lot of money to make your home comfortable, functional and cozy.
