A new stair runner

In 2014 my husband and I installed a Dash and Albert stair runner. I was happy with it. It took two runners to cover our stairs in the Vanilla Sky pattern. This pattern is no longer available.

It wore fairly well considering the constant use the stairs get day in and day out. But, after 6 years it had seen better days. It had become thread bare in some spots and a little dirty.

We started to worry that it might become a tripping hazard, and it wasn’t looking too good either.

We had planned on getting our upstairs floor’s refinished and decided to wait until they were done to replace the runners. But because of the Coronavirus some of our plans got put on the back burner, so we decided to go ahead and just replace the runners now.

Needless to say, we went in a different direction. This is called Montauk by Safavieh.  It’s made in India from recycled materials like old blue jeans. Because these runners are shorter in length, it took three runners. But the cost of three was less than one Dash and Albert runner.

It is really pretty, and quite thick which is opposite of the Dash and Albert runner. This time around instead of an electric stapler my husband and I used a pneumatic stapler. What a difference! It only took us three hours to install, as opposed to the five hours the first one took. A lot of the time spent was removing the old runner and all the old staples.

I think it turned out really nice. It’s soft under foot and I think the darker colors and pattern will hide dirt a little better. And no more trip hazards!
