Paris Apartment abandoned for seventy years..

So, most of the time I like to share information about architecture because it just interests me and I think everyone should be interested in it too...

But I stumbled upon a story about an apartment in Paris who's owner, only know as Mrs. de Florian, had abandoned before the second World War.  The apartment had been left untouched for seventy years.  No one even knew about the apartment until Mrs. de Florian died in 2010 at the age of 91.  She had paid rent on it all those years but for some reason never returned.

The greatest find in the apartment was an original painting by Giovanni Boldini.  It was a painting of a beautiful actress, Marthe de Florian who just so happened to be the grandmother of Mrs. de Florian.  When a love letter and a reference to the painting being painted in 1898 was found in the apartment the painting was deemed authentic.  It recently sold at auction for $3.4 million.

Just an amazing story...
